| Feeding Horslyx to horses in medium work |
|
For those with a somewhat more demanding workload, it is increasingly understood that a good quality forage diet can still provide the energy requirements for even the affiliated competition horse and many – even event horses - are now competing successfully without the need for cereal based feeds. Horses in medium work are likely to have a higher energy requirement than Horslyx and hay/haylage/grazing alone will provide, therefore other fibre feeds such as alf alfa or sugar beet can be added to the diet. Oil is also a good energy source of slow release energy up to half a pint a day can be fed if the horse is supplemented with vitamin E and selenium. However, Horslyx can be used alongside existing cereal rations to provide the optimum amounts of vitamins, minerals and trace elements the harder working horse requires if you would prefer to continue on a cereal diet.
